Our Story

CityLight South Church was launched by CityLight Church Glenelg and first gathered in Christies Beach in early 2020. By God's grace and because of the Gospel we aim to be a fruitful, multiplying family of Jesus-worshippers in the Onkaparinga region and beyond.

Being a disciple is about living everyday in community with Jesus and his people. Our discipleship groups are about making this community intentional. Groups meet midweek across southern Adelaide to study the Bible, pray, encourage, and do mission together. Find a DG near you.

Baptism is one of the two sacraments modelled and commanded by Jesus. (Communion is the other one). If you've never gone under the water as a sign of your repentance, faith, and new life in Jesus' family, we'd love to hear from you!

You were created to belong in God's family. We encourage every believer to pursue church membership. Every member at CityLight South signs a covenant agreement to love and lay down their lives for one another under the leadership of the elders. If you'd like to pursue membership at CityLight South, we'd love to hear from you!

NCC is a great resource to teach adults and kids the fundamentals of what we believe. You can download the free app here.

We love the next generation of Jesus worshippers at CityLight South! Sundays during school term, your school-aged kids (ages 3-12) are invited to join our team of gifted leaders during the gathering. Youth (ages 13-18) get together fortnightly during the gathering as well. Our aim is to make young disciples of Jesus who make disciples for His glory and our joy. We're committed to loving and safeguarding all our kids and young people at CityLight South. Find out more about South Kids & Youth, along with our Child Safe Policy.

At CityLight South we aim to see every member using their time, talent, and treasure to further the advance of the Gospel in our community and beyond. If you'd like to know more about serving with us in areas like music, tech and setup, hospitality, or helping us launch a new DG, we'd love to hear from you!

One of the hallmarks of the Christian life is generosity. We're so thankful for everyone who has contributed to our church's story thus far. We give not to prove our goodness, but to express our gratitude for everything we've received in Christ. There are three ways to give financially to the work of CityLight South:

We know the bad news. The cost of living is going up. We're addicted to our screens and lonelier than ever. We don't know what the future holds for ourselves or the planet. We've been hurt, and we've hurt others. If God is watching, surely He's not very happy. The Bible tells us it's much worse than that. Our badness, and the badness that saturates the whole world, is fatal. Without help, the future is indeed very bleak for all of us.

So what's the good news?

The good news is that God has a plan to end all the badness without ending us. That plan has a name: Jesus. Jesus is God who became a man. A man without one spot of badness. A man devoted to God and goodness. A man who deeply loves sinners like you and me. Jesus Christ, the God-man, loves you so much that He carried your badness on his shoulders when he was tortured and executed on a Roman cross. He suffered once, for all sinners who believe, to bring you to God. Back to friendship with Him. Back to forever family. Forever happiness.

Jesus didn't stay dead for long. He conquered all badness and death itself when God raised Him up and seated Him at the head of the table in heaven. That's your future if you cling to Jesus

To learn more about Jesus, we'd love to connect, to pray for you, or to meet you in person at one of our Sunday gatherings.
